βI cannot sing the praises of Peace in Piermont loud enough! If youβre looking for a place to feel truly welcome, look no further. Peace in Piermont, led by the wonderful Kate, offers a unique environment that fosters community, non-judgment, and unwavering support. This past year has been incredibly stressful for me and I can honestly say that the guidance and practices Iβve learned here have been a huge part of what helped me through it. Thanks to MBSR with Katie, I now live my daily life practicing mindfulness. Iβve also stepped out of my comfort zone with yoga and my entire family loves attending Family Yoga togetherβmy youngest often asks, βWhen are we going back to yoga?β If youβve ever needed a place to de-stress and learn to be more present, you must give this studio a try. It has truly changed me for the better, and for that, I am forever grateful.β
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is our ability to be completely present and aware of where we are, and what we are doing with openness, curiosity and acceptance. Although mindfulness is innate, it can be cultivated via scientific methods, especially through seated, standing, or walking meditation.
Studies say that eight in ten Americans experience stress in their everyday lives and have a difficult time relaxing their bodies and calming their minds. This puts them at a greater risk of heart disease, stroke and various other illnesses.
Multiple studies have shown that mindfulness meditation can change the brainβs gray matter and brain regions linked with memory, the sense of self, the regulation of emotions and improved quality of sleep.
βPeace in Piermont is so much more than a yoga studio - itβs more like a little community or support system. The instructors, the owner and all the families weβve met so far are all such warm and welcoming people. I had no experience with yoga, but was looking for mommy and me classes to enjoy with my baby so we decided to give it a try and Iβm so glad we did! Meeting moms with children around the same age and having the opportunity to discuss our concerns or share advice has been very helpful as a first-time mom. We also discovered the music class which is an absolute bonus! My baby lights up when the music starts and stays engaged for the entire class. The song choices are all age appropriate for young children, yet still entertaining for the adults. Iβm definitely looking forward to many more classes at Peace in Piermont!β

Kids yoga + Mindfulness
In our childrenβs yoga and mindfulness classes, students learn to connect their brain, body and breath. Throughout various games, exercises, writing activities, creative art projects and multi-sensory learning, students will:
Strengthen their pre-frontal cortex, the part of the brain thatβs responsible for executive functioning β this encompasses our abilities to plan ahead, manage challenging emotions, focus our attention, respond thoughtfully, etc.
Discover their innate ability to self-regulate their bodies and emotions
Practice ways of activating their parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to calm their bodies and combat stress
Understand the value of remaining in the present moment
Be exposed to strategies that will help bring them into the present moment and sustain presence
βMy son and my daughter all love Katie! I do too, for that matter. She is incredibly talented in keeping the attention of the younger kids. My seven-year-old boy can be quite rambunctious, but she always has a strategy to keep him engaged and on task. I love the techniques that he comes home with, he will even initiate them on his own. Katieβs experience as a school teacher is readily apparent in how she runs her weekly mindfulness classes for the kids.β
βOur family has had so many great experiences at PiP. Our 4-year old loves day camp here. Itβs full of fun, mindful and artistic activities, and they are always out exploring local nature. She comes home with a bag full of artwork and lots of fun stories about her day. Family yoga on Sunday mornings is fun and engaging for our entire family. I have also participated in the Mindfulness Stress Reduction Course led by Katie. Itβs an intense program that is well worth your time. As a busy caregiver, it was especially helpful to learn tools to incorporate more mindfulness into my daily routines. And to carve out time to take care of myself. All within a very supportive community. There are also weekly mindfulness meditation classes that are lovely to just drop in to. Katie has curated a truly special community. Thank you!β
βKatie is a force. A force of love and inspiration and tenacity. I am so incredibly thankful that she had the vision and knowledge to open Peace in Piermont in our little community. Weβve done private family yoga classes with her and my boys (4, 6 and 10) all adore Camp PiP and Kids Night Out. Thank you, Katie and team PiP for creating a magical space where we can learn to find calm within ourselves. It is a true blessing and affects everything else we do.β

βI started my personal meditation journey with Peace in Piermont (PIP) about five weeks ago after meditating for a couple of minutes at family yoga on Saturday mornings for several weeks. My goal was/is to become more mindful of the moment so I can enjoy/appreciate life as it is happening and learn how to be less reactive/angry about situations/feelings I experience. I meet weekly with Katie Stoeckeler in a private meditation/breathing/yoga session. Her demeanor, insight, experience, passion and ability to relate to my struggles is priceless. Katie is invested in my progress/success, not because it is her business, but because she cares and is passionate about helping me. Her passion, joy and satisfaction in my small successes are why I enjoy working with her and remain motivated to improve.
Katie realizes that there is no generic solution for each individual so she provides guidance/suggestions to me based upon our candid discussions about me and my personal journey. I am grateful that Katie is in my life and I am able to pursue my personal enrichment journey with her. I already see positive results in only five weeks so the possibilities feel endless! She has also connected with my twins who meditate with me and my wife every night before bedtime so her influence is having a positive impact on my entire family. PIP is a gift to children and adults alike and I hope others will explore programs there as I have done. My experience with PIP is always positive and easy which is another reason why my family and I keep going back.β
